Sustainable Labelling and Packaging Technology

Project overview

The Northern Territory (NT) and Northern Australia (NA) face a significant gap in the local advanced labelling and packaging industry.

Colemans Printing has identified this gap and the potential for growth in the booming labels and packaging market and proposes to revolutionise the labelling and packaging industry in the NT/NA by developing a high-tech, sustainable, and locally driven manufacturing solution.

Colemans will develop an in-house locally-based label and packaging solution, reducing lead times and supporting waste management efforts by aligning with national sustainability targets. Currently, Colemans outsources advanced labelling orders which results in a third party processing the labels which is timely and expensive, so ‘onshoring’ advanced print manufacturing capability to the NT would enable a more competitive option for businesses operating in NA.

Investing in proven state-of-the-art digital printing technology, like the HP Indigo 6K High tech labels machine and ABG Digicon Finishing solution, ensures that Colemans will offer ‘new to the Territory’ advanced solutions to clients while maintaining an eco-friendly focus. In collaboration with HP, Currie Group, and Charles Darwin University, the project introduces advanced security features to the market. These security measures will protect supply chains, deter counterfeiting, and protect brands, with the potential for forensic-level security in the future.

The project offers a local, sustainable, and innovative labelling and packaging solution for the cost effective and timely delivery of products to businesses in NT and NA.
